It’s ironic:

Librado Romero/The New York Times

The Writer’s Strike has entered its 6th week and both writers and networks are starting to feel the pinch. In a show of support for the writers, the Democratic Presidential Candidates all came out saying they would not cross the picket lines to take part in a scheduled CBS News debate, which was eventually canceled.

The writers’ guild said the gesture by the candidates “sends a powerful message that our members’ cause is just and important. We can’t wait until this strike is over so we can make fun of them for this.”

A rejected joke from the theater show I am writing for, THIS IS THE WEEK THAT IS.
